A huge well done to our 2015 leavers who recently celebrated excellent GCSE results!

Almost half of all pupils attained five GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and maths. And more than 60 per cent of pupils achieved five GCSEs at A* to C in any subject.

Head teacher Mr Whiteley said ‘We are all delighted and proud of achievements of our young people. They reflect the tremendous amount of hard work from pupils and staff with excellent support from parents and governors. Well done to all our young people and good luck in the next stage of your journey.’

New Colour Coded School Grading System

A new colour-coded system for schools in Wales has been released.  The new system replaces the school banding system, which was heavily criticised when it was introduced three years ago. The previous system ranked schools in bands between one – five, however the format was axed last year.

We're pleased to announce that Ysgol Bryn Alyn has been categorised as YELLOW -  this means we're a supportive school, described as: "an effective school, has good levels of learner outcomes in key performance indicators, understand and take action to address most areas needing improvement and many aspects of their performance are self-improving."

This is excellent news for the school, well done to all pupils, staff and Governors!

Emotional Health & Wellbeing Week 7-11July

Before the summer break YBA held an Emotional Health & Well Being (EHWB) week for years 7 to 10 to help to develop a healthy, successful school community and develop the social, emotional and behavioural skills of pupils.

A whole host of outside agencies visited school during the week to carry out workshops with pupils, including dealing with stress, puberty, sexual health and drugs and alcohol.  The circus also visited and some pupils took part in ‘I’m a Celebrity’ style bush tucker trials!
