School transport applications

With effect from 1st March 2019, parents will be able to apply for their child’s free school transport via the Council’s online Citizen’s Portal as they already do for school admissions. Information from School Transport can be found here.

Canteen update - 999 Account

As from Monday 4th March 2019 there will no longer be an emergency dinner account for pupils at lunchtime if they do not have lunch provided by parents. The emergency dinner account currently costs the school over £1,000 a year. After half term if any pupils forget their money or packed lunch they will then be able to go to their Pastoral Support Mentor for a cereal bar if parents aren't able to bring something in.

Also, free school meal pupils, if they spend their allocated amount at break time then no extra food will be provided at lunchtime.

Additional Learning Needs - Consultation

Welsh schools/parents and young people are currently going through a consultation period regarding the new ALN and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act.  There will be changes as the current system is over 30 years old and there is a need for a more flexible and responsive approach.  The new system will go live in September 2020.

Please see letter for further explanation of the Act and the new code that will support it.  Currently it is this code that is under consultation until 22nd March 2019.  The letter signposts a link to the draft code and explains how you can respond to it.

Please feel free to contact the school if you have any further questions.
