Determination, Inspiration and a Future in Teaching

At Ysgol Bryn Alyn, we take great pride in seeing our former students go on to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Megan Roughsedge is doing exactly that as she works towards a career in education, inspired by the teachers who helped shape her own journey.

After leaving Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Megan continued her studies and achieved a BA (Hons) Degree in Education. She is now taking the next step towards her ambition of becoming a teacher by studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Primary Education.

Megan's decision to pursue a career in teaching was heavily influenced by the experiences she had during her time at Ysgol Bryn Alyn and the support she received from her teachers.

"I wanted to become a teacher after the kindness and great teaching I had at Bryn Alyn."

She particularly remembers the impact made by Mrs Lisa Jones and Mr Gareth Jones, whose encouragement and dedication helped inspire her future career choice.

Megan is honest about the challenges she faced as a student and hopes her story will encourage others who may sometimes doubt their own abilities.

"I may not have been the most academically fortunate student, but with determination I have been able to achieve this."

Her journey demonstrates that success is not always about finding things easy. Often, it is perseverance, resilience and a willingness to keep moving forward that lead to achievement. Through hard work and determination, Megan has progressed from a Ysgol Bryn Alyn student to a university graduate and now a trainee teacher preparing to inspire the next generation of learners.

As Megan continues her PGCE studies, she is building the skills, knowledge and experience needed to make a lasting impact in the classroom. Her ambition to give back through education reflects the positive influence teachers can have on young people's lives and the importance of believing in every student's potential.

Megan's story is a powerful reminder that determination can overcome obstacles and that the encouragement of great teachers can inspire future careers. We are delighted to celebrate her achievements and wish her every success as she continues her journey into the teaching profession.
