Safeguarding at YBA


Ysgol Bryn Alyn is committed to safeguarding children and young people. All employees are subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
At YBA we are committed to safeguarding and adhere to all recommendations in the Welsh Government documents.

The safety and protection of children is of paramount importance to everyone in this school and we work hard to create a strong safeguarding culture of vigilance, checking, communicating and training.
DBS and IDs
YBA is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.
As part of our safeguarding procedures all visitors, may be asked to provide their DBS along with a form of ID.

Visitor Pass and Mobile Phones.
We ask that all visitors wear their Visitor Badges and that your pass is clearly visible throughout the duration of your stay.

Ysgol Bryn Alyn is now a Mobile Free Zone and this also applies to visitors.
Visitors are not permitted to take photographs in the school or of displays without prior agreement.
In the Event of a Fire or Evacuation

The fire alarm is a continuous bell. If the alarm sounds, please leave the building via the nearest designated fire exit. Plans are displayed in each classroom showing the nearest fire escape route. Please report to the assembly point and wait until you are advised to re-enter the building.
Whistleblowing Procedures
If you have any concerns about the conduct of an adult within the school, please notify the Headteacher - Mrs Slinn.
Alternatively, you can notify the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) on 01978 292039

If you have any concerns regarding one of our young people DO NOT leave school site until you have spoken to a member of the Safeguarding Team.
