Alumni Spotlight: Siobhan Jones

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of former Ysgol Bryn Alyn student Siobhan Jones, who has recently graduated from Wrexham University with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science and is now beginning her career with the Welsh Ambulance Service.

Siobhan's journey is a powerful reminder that success is not always measured by where you start, but by the determination and resilience you show along the way.

Reflecting on her time at YBA, Siobhan admits she was not the most academic student and that her attendance was not always where it needed to be. At the time, she never imagined she would go on to complete a healthcare degree and embark on a career as a paramedic.

What changed was finding something she was truly passionate about.

Driven by a desire to help others, Siobhan discovered a career path that motivated her to work harder than ever before. University brought challenges she never expected, but it also became one of the most rewarding experiences of her life. Through academic study, practical learning and clinical placements, she developed the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to pursue her dream career.

Reflecting on her journey, Siobhan said:

"Looking back, I think finding a career I was truly passionate about gave me the motivation and determination to achieve things I never thought possible."

Now, as she begins her career with the Welsh Ambulance Service, Siobhan is preparing to make a real difference to the lives of people across Wales every day.

Her advice to current students is both honest and inspiring:

"Don't let your time at school define your future. Whether you're achieving top grades or struggling to find your path, your future is still yours to create. Work hard, believe in yourself, and don't be afraid to chase a goal that feels out of reach."

Siobhan's story shows that there is no single route to success. With hard work, determination and a clear sense of purpose, it is possible to achieve far more than you ever imagined.
